"My current favourite ad" award for the admiration of Fiat Linea

"my current favourite ad" award

Speaking of universal truths. This ad takes a beautiful twist on one.

This ad has that same quality that all my "my favourite ad" award winners have. The love-to-see-it-repeatedly quality. Like all good entertainers, this ad employs nice music.

I am not a typical car enthusiast but I do stand witness to the passions that certain cars can stir-up in them. This ad subtly brings out that love thereby winning the award.

Fiat Linea. Just launched in India this month. The ad is still fairly new. Took me a while to find an online version. Someones yet to Youtube it. Anyone at Bates reading this?

You can see the ad
here . Tell me what you think.

yeah...the ad has a big thumbs up from me too. its simplicity is the most incredible aspect.

its almost like a fine work of art except for the tagline, 'Admiration Guaranteed' which makes it a commercial.

Silly Ad. The little boy stops at a toy shop then at a candy shop etc.. father drags him and goes. I thought they were going to show a credit card, bank, mutual fund etc.... to say the father will have enough cash to buy what his son desires. Looked like a financial services Ad... Then father stops and a Fiat appears. "Guranteed admiration" is very unreal. Now who admires an UGLY Fiat ? Just 3 out of 10 for me. I like the Mahindra Logan Ad that says " One in a long while comes an idea that changes your style, changes your drive, changes your power, changes your looks, that changes everything .... " This is nowhere near that...... Kudos Logan, Buldoze Fiat :-)

meraj,

hmmm hadn't thought of it before but now that u point it out i agree that the line "admiration guaranteed" has a 'sales-man' tone to it. wish they had used a more subtle way out...

Nibras,

Yes, this could have been an ad for a financial product too. But, I wouldn't have liked the ad atall then.

The ad would then have been promoting spoilt children who get EVERYTHING they desire! Also, the concept would be a bit staid for a financial product company...

If this sedan is really ugly then the ad deserves all the more credit for making it look desirable!

If ads began to portray the product as it really is, it would defy it's purpose.

Hah...Hah... Someone is finally agreeing with me that Ads lie... LIE... LIE... :-) See the last line of your comment !!!!! Glad you agreed... I would rather tell the truth and let the consumer buy me based on my own merit than claim to be someone I really am not ? See the Airtel Ads in Colombo.. Pretty basic, nothing extraordinary, yet truthful and effective despite featuring Sharukh Khan :-) I am of the opinion that Ads should portray the product as it really is.... Truth wins...

If exagerations are lies then yes advertising typically IS a whole lot of lies...:)

Mmmmm....... Yeah...... May be....... Most Ads are lies... Like the Fair & Lovely Ad that promises to make me an Aishwarya Rai in just 3 weeks when I know my DNA is a charcoal ugly dugly :-) :-) My point is Ads need not lie for them to be effective... I don't know.. This is my two cents :-) But I am more likely to be convinced by an Ad that is real....

Two thumbs up for the ad from me!
Its a welcome change in approach from conventional car commercials. One of the best of the lot in the recent times! The song and the script matched perfecto. Would you believe my 5yo kid too loves this commercial?
